Why we need your help
Because local support is absolutely insufficient. In a country of
24 million inhabitants, there are less than a dozen animal protection
organizations.
Because there is no government agency in Margarita involved in animal
control, rescue of strays or any kind of help to animals.
Because private and institutional donations are basically directed
towards solving the grave social problems that affect the human
population (70% live in poverty or semi-poverty).
Because most of the underprivileged own pets, who are often neglected.
These animals share streets and sicknesses with strays, thus
contributing to the increase of suffering, abused homeless creatures.
AAMOR also helps these family pets by low cost (or free) basic
veterinary services and spaying.
Because AAMOR works hard to rescue, recover, shelter and re-home strays
and spay/neuter both homeless and neglected dogs and cats.
Operating costs are covered with the income from our clinic, which
seldom reaches US$ 2,5000/month.
Because there are still so many animals which need help.
Your help will be used to:
- Reach more stray animals in the villages
- Increase the quantity of sterilizations
- mprove our facilities
How you may help:
Adoptions - Planning a vacation in Margarita? We can give you a
beautiful "criollo" to take back home. Healthy, spayed or neutered,
sociable and only asking for love and responsible ownership.
Several orphans from AAMOR already enjoy new happy lives in the US,
Canada and Europe.
Donations: in cash or materials. Any material that will be
useful for medical care or spaying (suture, antibiotics, surgery
gloves, syringes, deworming pills, medical equipment, etc.) and
other small items that you might send us by mail or through a friend
coming to Margarita. Second hand plastic kennels, collars and leashes
will also be welcome!
Voluntaries: Veterinaries, vet students or assistants,
animal handlers, carpenters or workers willing to donate their time and
skills to a good cause, while enjoying a vacation in a beautiful
Caribbean Island.
